Still Waters » Dive Deep » Lady Madonna
I'm not a fan of the Beetles, but this song was used for the theme to a sitcom I adored, Grace Under Fire. While working on another project, this song started to resurface in my memory, and I saw a parallel to Filia.
Lady Madonna
by The Beetles
Lady Madonna, children at your feet.
Wonder how you manage to make ends meet.
Who finds the money when you pay the rent?
Did you think that money was heaven sent?
The first line needs no definition. Just look at baby Val. The rest of the verse clearly outlines the kind of monetary problems she'd undoubtly face in trying to build a new life from scratch.
Friday night arrives without a suitcase.
Sunday morning creeps in like a nun.
Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlace.
See how they run.
Lady Madonna, baby at your breast.
Wonder how you manage to feed the rest.
Dragons have a high metabolism, and young Dragons are no exception. With so many of their basic requirements needing purchasing, how does she find the money to feed not just herself and Val, but Jillas and Gravos as well?
See how they run.
Lady Madonna, lying on the bed,
Listen to the music playing in your head.
Tuesday afternoon is neverending.
Wednesday morning, papers didn't come.
Thursday night, your stockings needed mending.
See how they run.
There's no vacation. If it's not one thing, it's something else. Each day brings along something that needs to be dealt with.
Lady Madonna, children at your feet.
Wonder how you manage to make ends meet.
Once upon a time perhaps, money was 'heaven-sent', in the sense that her basic needs were met by the temple. They did not go hungry, they did not lack in clothing or shelter or the other basics.
